ROBERT G. MACKLIN, 85 years of Airville, PA, formerly of Delaware, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 11, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loved ones. Married on May 2, 1952, he was the widower of Nancy M. (Forbes) with whom he shared 59 years of marriage.
Born on June 15, 1930 in Chadds Ford, PA, he was the son of the late Floyd and Mary (Ryan) Macklin. A lifetime farmer, Mr. Macklin never retired; he was a hard worker with a humble spirit and was devoted to the farm. He enjoyed bluegrass music, played guitar, and had held office in the Delaware Farm Bureau.
He is survived by 4 children: Sue McDonald, and her husband Kevin of York, PA; Greg Macklin of Airville, PA; Tom Macklin and his wife Donna of Airville, PA; Andy Macklin and his wife Debbie of Airville, PA. 11 grandchildren: Jason, Kelly, Lindsey, April, Brian, Dustin, Matt, Nicole, Allison, Emily, and Olivia; 10 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Doris King of Indiana and MaryAnn Brancheau of Arizona
He is also preceded by his son, Richard G. "Mack" Macklin.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in McKendree U.M. Church, 3708 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302. The funeral service will immediately follow in church, beginning at 2:00 p.m.
Rev. Gary L. Daugherty will officiate.
Interment will follow the service and be in the adjoining church cemetery.
