Robert Lee Hodges, Sr., age 81 years, of Darlington, MD died at 7:01 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at the Harford Memorial Hospital in Havre de Grace, MD. He was the husband of Sharon A. (Richardson) Hodges. They observed their 19th wedding anniversary on December 21, 2013.

He was born in Lynchburg, VA on July 30, 1932, a son of the late John Robert Hodges and Fannie (Vest) Hodges Allen. A 1949 graduate of E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy following graduation and served mostly on the U.S.S. Coral Sea until his discharge in 1953.

He was an alumni of the Capitol Radio and Engineering Institute in Washington and worked as a Television Operations Manager at the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD until his retirement in 1985.

A life member of the Darlington-Dublin Post #10146, V.F.W., he was also a member of Slate Ridge Post #182, A.L. Whiteford, MD

Bob enjoyed participating in scouting during the years his son was involved. His hobbies were horse racing, playing shuffleboard and especially, bowling.

One daughter: Gloria H. Axelson of Delta

Two grandchildren: Robert Lee Daughaday and Elizabeth Shannon D. Pennell

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Lee "Fuzzy" Hodges, Jr. who died on July 5, 2013 and his brother, John R. Hodges, Jr.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Officiating will be Pastor James Johnson of the Dublin U.M. Church.

Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery.
