IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roy S.
Tosten
March 12, 1933 – October 17, 2021
Roy Samuel "Toby" Tosten, Jr., age 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at Health First Viera Hospital in Melbourne, Florida. He was born in Hagerstown, Maryland, on March 12, 1933, to late Roy S. and Anna (Deckman) Tosten. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by the first wife of 56 years, Alma (Moore) Tosten and a sister, Dorothy Mae Tosten (Hathaway-Crouse).
Roy was a veteran of the Korean War serving honorably in the United States Navy aboard the USS Sperry DD-697 as a Gunners Mate. He worked as a foreman at the Bata Shoe Factory, Belcamp, MD and the Service Manager at Wilson's Chrysler Plymouth in Aberdeen. During his retirement, he was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans organization and lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Roy was also a member of Dublin Methodist Church, Dublin, Maryland and in his later years, attended Victorious Faith Fellowship in Forest Hill. His work at the car dealership helped fuel his passion for drag racing. He was the driver for the Roy Tosten & Ken Jennings Enginuity Drag Racing Team and an avid NASCAR fan – "Where they runnn' this weekend?" In his younger years, Roy and Alma traveled extensively by motor home. He always said "I'm a car guy". So much so, that everything he owned or loved was on wheels, including homes in Aberdeen (MD), Piney Creek (NC), and Rockledge (FL). He loved classic country music – "Who's playin' at the Opry tonight?" Roy is survived by his loving and caring wife, Anna (Harrington) Tosten and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. Throughout his life, he cherished being known as everyone's "Uncle Roy".
