IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruby Adams
Froman
November 3, 1937 – March 31, 2023
Life story written by the family - Ruby Virginia (Adams) Froman, 85, of Pylesville, Maryland was received into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Ruby was born on November 3, 1937, in Tucker County, West Virginia to the late Roy Cecil Adams and Madeline Virginia (Auvil) Adams.
Ruby was raised on top of a mountain in West Virginia. She attended a one-room school through grade school and graduated from Parsons High School in 1955. She met and married her high school sweetheart—Kenneth Ray Froman on July 4, 1954. They moved to Dundalk, MD in 1956. Kenny & Ruby had 3 children—Robert, Bonnie & Janet.
Kenny was 18 and Ruby 16 when they married. They were married 46 years. It was a good marriage filled with love and hospitality for each other and for those who crossed their path. As a couple, they were generous to others in many ways. They had a deep love for their children as well as their extended families and friends they made through the years. They traveled many miles together through the year and always had a spirit of adventure. It was a great loss when Kenny died in May 2000.
As Ruby's children grew, she was greatly involved with Boy Scouts as a Den Mother and other related activities. Later she became a Junior Girl Scout Troop leader for several years. The years in Dundalk were full with lots of great memories and activities.
In 1972, the adventure of moving to Fawn Grove began. Living in a camper for 4 ½ months with no water or electricity while their house was built, she kept the family on track while she recorded the progress on the house, making meals and doing laundry.
Ruby's first love was her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was saved at the age of 9 back on the mountain at the Limestone Church. She was a member and faithful attendee of Watersedge Baptist Church in Dundalk, Maryland and then the Fawn Grove Church of the Nazarene. She served on the board and also served the church by preparing and serving many meals as her service to the Lord. Through the years, Ruby had the privilege of leading many extended family members to the Lord.
Ruby left her children (3), grandchildren (9), and even great grandchildren (18 / 19 and counting) with a legacy of love and laughter. She loved to play or be silly with each generation. Her specialty was pajama parties in her giant living room where she spread mattresses all over the floor for the kids and slept on a cot in the middle of the mayhem. She was also known and loved by her grandkids for showing up for birthday parties dressed for the theme of their party like the Blue Genie, a green dinosaur, the Easter Bunny. One time she went to what she thought was Amber's birthday party dressed as Sylvester the Cat. Little did she know that it was she & Pop's own 40th Wedding Anniversary party with about 100 people there to celebrate.
Immediately after 9/11 happened, Ruby responded alongside others in her church to go to NYC to help renovate a building owned by the Nazarene Church to house out of town firefighters. The smoke was still billowing several blocks away from where she was on Times Square.
In 2004, the Lord allowed Ruby, along with her daughter, Bonnie, and granddaughter, Amy to minister to the mountain community in Big Woods, Jamaica by helping to renovate their church and participate in the rededication ceremony.
After losing her husband of 46 years in May 2000, Ruby did not sit idle. She created quilts for each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also grew a large garden and canned hundreds of jars each year of food for her family.
Ruby worked in public work from about 1976 to 1997. The jobs included working in a screen weaving factory, a furniture factory and AMP where she was the janitor/cafeteria supervisor/chaplain for many years.
She loved to go on adventures with her family whether tent camping, motorhome camping or visiting family that lived great distances away. If the car was leaving the driveway, she was ready to go. She was loved by all and will be missed by her large family and numerous friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Robert Froman (Joan), Bonnie Spear, and Janet Podlaseck (David); brother Ralph Adams (Donna); grandchildren Ben Spear (Jaime'), Amy Herriman (Neil), Christina Markey (Joe), Joel Podlaseck (Beth), Amber Black (Dave), Evan Podlaseck, Anna Glenn (Jeremy), Julie Clyde (Thomas), and Eric Spear; and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Wayne Spear.
