RUBY G. CAULFORD, age 102 years, died at the home of her granddaughter in Bel Air, Maryland on Saturday, July 25, 2009. She was the beloved wife of the late Byron Caulford who died in 1982.
Born on June 3, 1907 in Independence, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Jane (Wingate) Halsey. She was one of the special people who have lived to witness over 100 years of life and history.
Mrs. Caulford had lived in Harford County, Maryland since 1921, and was a member of the Dublin United Methodist Church. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Victory Chapter #187, Aberdeen, Maryland and helped to create the Job's Daughters Bethel #16 in Darlington. She was a member of the United Methodist Women's Group, Dublin Women's Society, Dublin Grange and was the first Grand Marshall of the Dublin Country Fair.
She enjoyed making crafts, baking and spending time with her family.
She is survived by:
Three children-
Jean Day of Bel Air, Maryland
Mary Joyce Smith of Gambills, Maryland
Billie McNutt and her husband, Ronald of Darlington, Maryland
Thirteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and twenty-one great-great grandchildren
Numerous nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Winona Yamanaka and Martha Caulford.
Also three sisters and a brother.
Visitations will be held on Tuesday, July 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 PM with an Eastern Star Service at 8PM at Dublin United Methodist Church, 1528 Whiteford Road, Street, Maryland.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 29th at 11 AM at her church.
Reverend Dr. Paul Benjamin of Emory United Methodist Church, Street, Maryland and Reverend Roberta Scoville will officiate.
Interment will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery, Darlington, Maryland
Pallbearers will be William Day, Sr.; Michael Day, Mike Swick, Steven Day, Ricky Williams, William Wallace, Jr.; James Copeland and David Berbig.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeff Yamanaka, Charles Patrick and Barry Smith.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boyer Family Cemetery, C/O Connie Wallace, 1320 Grafton Shop Road, Bel Air, MD 21014.
