Ruth Eleanor Knell, age 90, of Street, Maryland, passed away peacefully at her home on June 23, 2026.

Born on July 12, 1935, in Baltimore City, Maryland, Ruth was the daughter of the late Robert John Kittel and the late Ida Virginia Kittel (née Oursler). She was the beloved wife of the late Charles S. Knell, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, faith, and devotion to family.

Ruth was a devoted mother to Sharon Miller and her husband, John, of Street, Maryland, and Bob Knell and his wife, Martha, of Street, Maryland. She was a loving grandmother to Jason Miller of White Hall, Maryland; Michael Miller and his wife, Lynn, of Jarrettsville, Maryland; and Jessica Taylor and her husband, Coltan, of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Ethan Miller, Logan Miller, and Weston Taylor, all of whom brought tremendous joy to her life.

A faithful and devoted member of Highland Presbyterian Church, Ruth's faith was a guiding force throughout her life. She cherished her church family and found great comfort in worship, fellowship, and service to others.

Ruth adored her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with those she loved. She had a passion for gardening and took immense pride in her home and property. Her flower beds, gardens, and meticulous attention to detail reflected her love of beauty and hard work. Family and friends often remarked that her home looked as though it belonged on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens magazine.

Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, unwavering devotion to her family, strong faith, and the warmth she shared with everyone who knew her. Her legacy of love, grace, and dedication will continue to live on through the generations she leaves behind.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, Maryland 21154.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, Maryland 21154, with Reverend Ray Meute, Jr. officiating. Interment will immediately follow in Highland Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Ruth's memory to Highland Presbyterian Church.
