Obituary

SAMUEL "EVERETT" GEMMILL, age 93 years, was born on November 24, 1918 on the family farm in the Delta area and passed away on Friday, January 6, 2012 at his residence. He was the husband of Ruth (Krow) Gemmill with whom he had shared 71 years of marriage.

Everett was a son of the late Samuel Elliott and Marion (Garber) Gemmill, graduated from the former Delta High School and worked on the family farm all of his life. He was the third generation to operate Belview Valley Farms, that is currently being managed by the fifth generation of the Gemmill Family. He and his wife, Ruth also operated the Gemmill Bus Company for the over 35 years providing transportation for the South Eastern School District.

"Pop" as he was affectionally known to his family, attended Fawn United Methodist Church and was a member of the Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company for many years. He also was a member of the Young Farmers and served as the Future Farmers of America (FFA) advisor at Kennard Dale High School for many years. He loved hunting and in his younger years, made annual trips to the mountains to hunt for deer. Later in life, he hunted on the family farm. Everett enjoyed playing cards, especially 500 and had a knack for being able to fix just about everything.

Six grandsons-

Gregory Gemmill and his wife, Mandy; Steven Gemmill; Eric Gemmill and his wife, Jessica; Darren McShane; Ryan McShane and his wife, Sara; Stephen McShane and his wife, Bobbi.

Four great grandsons-

Tyler Gemmill; Riley McShane; Jack McShane and Andrew McShane.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral will be held on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m.

His pastor, Reverend David Stough will officiate.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, PA.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate contributions in his honor be made to the Delta Senior Center, 5 Pendyrus St., Delta, PA 17314 or Fawn United Methodist Church, 67 South Market St., Fawn Grove, PA 17321.
