SAMUEL W. SNYDER, age 92 years, of Bel Air, Maryland died at his home at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, February 18, 2008. He was the husband of Pauline E. (Anderson) Snyder. They observed their 68th wedding anniversary on September 28, 2007.
Mr. Snyder was born near Delta, Pennsylvania on December 1, 1915 a son of the late Samuel W. and Elsie Blanche (Pomraning) Snyder. He graduated from the former Lower Chanceford High School and served in the European Theater with the U.S. Army during World War II. He retired in June of 1973 after many years as an artillery inspector at Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a longtime active member of the Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, Bel Air, Maryland.
Mr. Snyder was very active in Masonry and his affiliations include the following:
50 year member, Past Master and Honorary Member of Stephenson Lodge #135, A.F.&A.M., Darlington, Maryland where he served as Chaplain for 41 years.

Member of the Joppa Town Square Club
Past Guardian of Bethel Lodge #55, I.O.J.D.
Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star #105, formerly of Darlington, Maryland where he served 16 terms.

Honorary member of the Esdraelon Lodge #176, A.F.& A.M., Cardiff, Maryland
In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
One son: Samuel W. Snyder, Jr. of Edgewood, Maryland
Three daughters:Sandra L. Taylor of Bel Air, Maryland
Sharon L. Honabach of Jarrettsville, Maryland
Pamela N. Bayless of Baltimore, Maryland
One brother: Lewis Snyder of Delta, Pennsylvania
Also survived by four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Bradley Honabach and his great granddaughter, Amber Sarah Brownell.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22 at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church, 2350 Conowingo Road, Bel Air, Maryland.
His pastor, Reverend Karen McCorkle Thompson will officiate.
Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, Maryland
Viewing will be on Thursday, February 21 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania where a Masonic service will be held at 8:15 p.m.
