SHIRLEY MAE CARTER, age 70 years, died on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 6:15 a.m. in her home in Brogue, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of Lee Roy Carter, and on July 9, 2010 they celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary.

Born on January 27, 1940 in York, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late David and Louella Aubel. A lifetime resident of York County, she was a member of New Life Church of God in Jarrettsville, Maryland. Mrs. Carter and her husband were the owner/operators of the Trading Post in Delta, Pennsylvania from the early 1990's until their retirement in 2008, where many customers called her "Mom." She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and playing bingo.

Twelve grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and six step grandchildren

Two sisters-Mary Miller of York, Pennsylvania

Dorothy Bowles of Red Lion, Pennsylvania

She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Carter on June 28, 2003.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania with her minister, Pastor Mark Warfield officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania

Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
