Shirley Mae Cochran, 84, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2026, at York Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 13, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Robert A. Silver and Mary Silver (née Lane).

Shirley was a devoted mother to Virginia J. White and Stephen L. Cochran. She was a loving sister to Robert A. Silver and Donald Silver. She was preceded in death by her siblings Margaret Windon, Helen Johnson, Harry Silver, and Marvin Silver.

She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Michael Heath White, Mary Whipperman, Ashley Nicole Yates, and her honorary granddaughter, Kayla Arnold.

Shirley found joy in the simple things in life. She loved watching professional wrestling, NASCAR, and gospel programs. She was known for her caring nature—always taking care of others, keeping a tidy home, and rarely sitting still as she swept, cleaned, and made sure everything was just right. She also enjoyed spending quiet time reading.

At the request of the family, all services will be private with the exception of a graveside service, which will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Bel Air Memorial Gardens, 809 Rock Spring Road, Bel Air, Maryland.
