SHIRLEY MARIE PRUITT was born on July 10, 1936 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Manning Cleveland Beaver and Fushia Lee (Chandler) Beaver. She departed this world on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 in the year of our Lord, making her stay on this earth 85 years, 10 months and 29 days. She was united in marriage to the late Elder Tom Pruitt on October 24, 1953.

Mrs. Pruitt is survived by her four children: Debrah Lynn (Pruitt) Hawkins, Charles Thomas Pruitt, Jr., Janet Marie Pruitt and John Howard Pruitt. Four grandchildren: Jason Hawkins, Benjamin Hawkins, Dayna Pruitt and Matthew Pruitt. Five great grandchildren: Jacob Hawkins, Laela Harkins, Toby Hawkins, Luke Hawkins and Bella Hawkins. Additionally, two sisters: Bernice Krouse and Barbara Bravard.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elder Tom Pruitt; and her two brothers: Kay Beaver and Vestal Beaver.

Sister Shirley professed a hope in Christ on January 17, 1955 and joined Baptist View Regular Baptist Church on January 19, 1955. She was baptized into the fellowship of the church by Elder Millard F. Pruitt and Elder Bert Andrews. She was a founding member of Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church and was a wholly dedicated soldier for the Lord until her final breath. She was a light to many lost souls and an inspiration to anyone who knew her.

In addition to being a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Sister Shirley had been employed as a telephone operator in the 1950's and provided food services to the Dublin/Darlington Elementary Schools for 32 years, retiring in 2016.

A viewing will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Pleasant Home Regular Baptist Church, 18 Salisbury Road, Airville, Pennsylvania where her body will be laid to rest in the church cemetery. Church pastor, Elder Rob Lins and Elder Rob Johnson will co-officiate. Following the committal, everyone is invited into the church social hall for a luncheon.
