SIDNEY HERBERT WINDON, age 74 years, died on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 in his home in Pylesville, Maryland. He was the husband of Iris Fay (Shirkey) Windon who died on June 17, 2002.

Mr. Windon was born on January 21, 1934 in Cauldwell, West Virginia; he was the son of the late Sidney H. and Lucy (Sams) Windon. He moved from Middle River, Maryland to Pylesville, Maryland over forty-two years ago. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean War and was of the protestant faith. He worked as a form carpenter for Dance Brothers Construction Company in Linthicum Heights, Maryland for over thirty years. He enjoyed feeding birds, gardening, fishing, hunting, and working on old cars. He found great joy spending time with his family.

John Akin and his wife, Kathy of Pylesville, Maryland

Tina Brown and her husband, Richard of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania

Ronald Akin of Street, Maryland

Also dear to him-Lisa and Ed Strickline of Pylesville, Maryland

Ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank Windon of Loganville, Pennsylvania

Two sisters-

Shirley Heaps of Pylesville, Maryland

Marie Windon of Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania

He was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Joyce Akin and a brother, Ed Windon.

Visitation will be held on Saturday evening, April 19, 2008 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 20th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Elder Scott Morris of Saving Grace Fellowship, Red Lion, Pennsylvania will officiate.

Interment will be next to his wife, Iris in St. Paul's United Methodist Cemetery, Pylesville, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be Ed Strickline, Kenny Green, John Akin, Jr.; Michael Beall, Jason Beall, Adam Beall, Donnie Windon and Tom Ellis.
