SISTER WINNIE L. BOOKER, age 79 years of Delta, PA entered the Kingdom singing at 1:43 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at York Hospital.

She was born in York, PA on March 27, 1936 a daughter of the late Edward and Lucy (Blaine) Booker. A pastor, evangelist as well as a missionary, Sister Winnie began singing and playing the piano at the young age of 8 years old. Graduating from Kennard-Dale High School, Fawn Grove in 1956, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Morgan State in 1960. In 1973 she was inducted into the National Honor Society Hall of Fame for outstanding achievement.

Beginning in 1977, Sister Winnie worked as the Ministry Coordinator with Outreach Christian Fellowship Center, serving as a missionary and evangelist in England, Africa, and the U.S. She celebrated 50 years of music ministry in 1994. Sister Winnie loved to play the piano, was very fond of singing, was a spirit filled preacher and enjoyed gardening when her busy scheduled allowed the time.

Sister Winnie's ministry involved loving God, and loving others. She lived and loved the way God wanted. She had many theories of the way a Christian should live, but most of all she placed God above all earthly things.

Ida Clarke and her husband, Joe of Danielson, CT

Loving nieces, nephews as well as grand nieces and nephews

Many adopted family members

She was preceded in death by her siblings-Odell Booker, Carrie Thomas, Donald "Billy" Booker and George Booker.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2016 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the memorial service at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. Reverend Mary C. Johnson of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church will officiate.
