Steven Earl Rugemer, 56 of Delta, PA was called home to be with the Lord on Monday October 11, 2021 at 1:33 PM at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center after a long courageous battle with COPD. He was the devoted loving husband to Jeannette (Wever) Rugemer, and together they celebrated 36 years of marriage on May 25, 2021. He was the beloved father to Jessica (Rugemer) Haugh.

Steve was born in Carroll County, MD on July 11, 1965 to the late Donald L. Rugemer and Joyce Y. (Alban) Holdaway. Steve lived in this area his whole life and graduated from Kennard-Dale High School in 1983. Steve worked at Delta Lumber for several years before becoming a HVAC mechanic working for Blue Dot of MD (formally Ridge Heating and Air) where he worked for 15 years before becoming ill with a chronic lung condition that left him disabled.

Steve lived a quiet private life, enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid sports fan. He loved woodworking and was very creative in his projects. Being a nature lover, he enjoyed making bird houses and feeders for the abundant wildlife that live around his family and he loved spending time with the fur children adopted over the years.

Steve's greatest joy in life was his family. His love and devotion to his wife and daughter was pure magic. He had the most wonderful sense of humor and a heart of gold. If Steve was your friend, you had a friend for life. Even as his health declined, he kept a smile and his humor till the end.

Steve was a gentle soul with a huge heart and a steadfast devotion to the Lord. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife and daughter he is survived by a son-in-law, Tony Haugh of Delta, PA and his dear friends Jason Kilby of Delta, PA and Stephanie Croff of Delta, PA.

He is also survived by two brothers Wayne Rugemer and his wife Carmel of McMinnville, TN; Mark Dixon and his wife Leigh Ann of Hollywood, MD; a sister-in-law Sue Rugemer of Windsor, PA and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother Gary Rugemer.

Visitation will be held Monday October 25, 2021 at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA from 6 P.M.to 8 P.M. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday October 26, 2021 at Harkins Funeral Home with a one hour viewing at 11 A.M. prior to the service at noon. Scott Morris of Saving Grace Fellowship will officiate. Interment to follow at Slate Ridge Cemetery Delta, PA.
