STEWART E. BROWN, age 84 years died on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at his home in Delta, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Evelyn (Miller) Brown and on January 4 they observed their 44th. wedding anniversary.
Mr. Brown was born in Port Deposit, Maryland on April 10, 1923 a son of the late Roy and Bessie (Peaco) Brown. He grew up in Havre de Grace, Maryland and after graduating from high school he served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He retired from Bechtel Corp. in 1986 where he had worked as a construction foreman at the Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station. Mr. Brown had worked previously at both Caterpillar and Borg-Warner in York. He was a member of the Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, Delta where he enjoyed working in the kitchen.
In addition to his wife he is survived by:
Two sons: Ronald M. Brown of Perry Point VAMC, Maryland
Stewart E. Brown II of Landover, Maryland
Also survived by ten grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and one great great grandson
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald R.E. Brown and his daughter, Maxine E. Williams.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 6, 2007 at Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, 1006 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.
His former pastor, Rev. Dr. Gloria M. Snipes will officiate.
The viewing will be from 9 to 11 AM on Wednesday at the church with the funeral service beginning at 11 AM.
Interment with military honors by the York County Veteran's Honor Guard will be in Trinity A.M.E. Zion Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church at the above address or the VNA Home Health, 218 E. Market St., York, PA 17403
