Obituary

THELMA G. GALBREATH, 94 of Street, MD, passed away early on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at Jacob's Well Assisted Living in Bel Air, MD. Thelma was married on August 12, 1950 to Robert Russell Galbreath who died in 1988. After their marriage, she joined the Highland Presbyterian Church where she was dedicated to church activities.

Born on February 23, 1929 in Baltimore, MD, she was one of four children and the only daughter of the late William Fred Greene, Sr., and Ethel Belinda (Moore) Greene. She graduated from the former Jarrettsville High School and completed the secretarial program at Strayer Secretarial School. Thelma was employed with the Maryland Casualty Insurance Company and then took time to be a full time mother when her children were born. In addition, she helped her husband on their dairy farm in Street, MD where she assisted with the daily milkings, tended a large family garden, canned vegetables and at one time, raised chickens.

In 1967, Thelma obtained a secretarial position with the Harford County Government where she served 30 years, retiring in 1997. She was a longtime member of the Highland Homemakers, enjoyed socializing with the Quilting On The Line Quilt Guild where beautiful quilts were created. She enjoyed traveling especially with her dear friend, Ruth Cobb and had been an active member of the Madonna AARP.

She is survived by:

Two children-Marlene G. Herculson (Tim) and Brian R. Galbreath (Joan), all of Street, MD.

A brother, David Greene (Nancy) of White Hall, MD

Four grandchildren-Russell Herculson, Spencer Herculson, Meghan Galbreath Donovan (Michael), Andrew Galbreath (Jacob Kosi-Huber) and a great granddaughter, Charlette Grace Herculson.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Belinda Grace Galbreath; brothers, William F. Greene, Jr. and Hubert Greene.

Services will be held on Saturday, August 19th at Highland Presbyterian Church, 701 Highland Road, Street, MD 21154 with a visitation with her family from 10 – 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service led by her pastor, Reverend R. Meute, Jr. Interment be held in the adjoining church cemetery. Following the interment, a luncheon will be served in the church social hall.
