THELMA R. �Jimmie� HEWELL, age 97 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died on Friday evening, October 23, 2009 at the Barbara J. Egan Nursing and Rehab Center in Shrewsbury, Pennsylvania. She was the wife of the late Gorman Hewell.
Mrs. Hewell was born at Whiteford, Maryland on December 24, 1911 a daughter of the late Christopher and Henrietta (Kohlbus) Muth. She worked at the D & D sewing factory for over 40 years and took great pleasure in being a pattern maker. For many years she walked more than 3 miles each way from her home in Whiteford to her job at the factory in Delta. She took pleasure in crocheting, gardening, writing in her daily journal and watching the Orioles play baseball. In 2005 she won both the Reserve and Grand Champion designations at the Mason-Dixon Fair for her intricate needle work, which was of her own design. In 2007 she again won a First Place award for her afghan.
She was incredibly proud of her family�s many successes. She was an iron-willed, caring person that possessed a level of energy that was unmatched by most her age. She was devoted to her son and his wife, her grandchildren, great grandchildren and her great-great grandchild.
Mrs. Hewell�s church membership was with the Delta United Methodist Church.
She is survived by:
One son: Ronald A. Hewell and his wife Connie of Delta
Two grandchildren: Leland Hewell and his fianc� Jacquelyn Fulton.
Valerie Simon and her husband Mark, all of Delta
Four great grandchildren: Jessica Jeddry and her husband Craig of Felton, Lesley Parthree
Patricia Simon and Rebecca Simon, all of Delta
One great great grandson: Ryley Jeddry of Felton
Funeral services and interment will be private.
