Obituary

THOMAS E. GRAY, SR., age 77 years of Whiteford, MD, left this world peacefully on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 in York Hospital. Born on December 6, 1934, he was a son of the late John and Nellie (Bridges) Gray.

Mr. Gray was a United States Army Veteran serving from 1954 until his honorable discharge from reserve obligation in 1962. He moved to the Whiteford area in the early 1960's and met the love of his life, Betty Barben. They were married on February 3, 1962 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on February 3, 2012. Mr. Gray had numerous careers including tunnel construction, carpentry and later as an electrician at Wiley's Ship Yard in Port Deposit, MD, remaining in this employment until the completion of the Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore, MD in 1984. He was later employed by Price Brothers in Perryman, MD until his retirement in 1995.

Mr. Gray loved life and enjoyed helping people. He was always tinkering on things and anyone could tell he was in the room because he would be whistling away. He was known as a repairman that could fix anything. He was a lifetime member of the Delta-Cardiff and Whiteford Volunteer Fire Companies and a member of the American Legion Post #182 of Whiteford.

Camping was one of his enjoyments. He loved his children, grandchildren, great grandchild plus any child regardless if they were a part of his family or not and enjoyed spending time with them. If there was someone in need, he would take time to help them and treat them as "his own."

Paul Gray and his wife, Sara

Sam Gray and his wife, Nina

A brother, Donald (Skip) Gray and his wife, Carol

Nine grandchildren-Jason, Vicky, Jamie, Brandon, Paul, Jr.; Brittany, Ashley, Lisa and Autumn.

A great grandchild, Kaitlyn and was looking forward to the two great grandchildren that were coming in the near future.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 1st from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA were the funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 2nd at 10:30 a.m.

Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens with military honors to be presented.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Scholarship Fund of the American Legion Post #182, Attn: Mike McFadden, 2217 Whiteford Road, Whiteford, MD 21160.
