Obituary

THOMAS EDWARD EVANS, age 71 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died on Friday, January 13, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, Maryland. He was the husband of Linda L. (Muenze) Evans with whom he had shared 41 years of marriage.

Born on May 16, 1940 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late George William and Marjorie Elizabeth (Switzer) Evans and a lifetime resident of Delta. Retiring in 2000, Mr. Evans was a dairy farmer and also had worked as a custodian for Harford County Public Schools. Mr. Evans was a member for 49 years at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church in Cardiff, Maryland where he served as a trustee, usher and church bell ringer. He later worshipped at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church in Whiteford, Maryland for the past 11 years serving as head usher and on the board of trustees.

Mr. Evans was a past member of the Slate Ridge Cemetery Association Board of Directors, enjoyed trains and was a farming equipment, tractor, gas engine enthusiast.

Two sons-

Andy Evans of Bel Air, Maryland

Timothy J. Evans and his wife, Penny of Wake Forest, North Carolina

Five grandchildren

Two sisters-

Sara Pinto and her husband, Thomas of Princess Anne, Maryland

Nancy Dowdy and her husband, Brian of Aiken, South Carolina

Two nieces and three nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, 1510 Deep Run Road, Whiteford, Maryland with his minister, Pastor Cindy Caldwell officiating.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to Mt. Vernon UMC, C/O Nancy Olchewsky, 1510 Deep Run Road, Whiteford, MD 21160.
