Tressie Melinda Hutton, 94, of Street, MD, died at home on Monday, June 21, 2021. She was born on July 1, 1926 in North Carolina, to her parents, the late Corbit Cox and Verna Brown Cox. Tressie was married to the late James W. Hutton, who preceded her in death.

Tressie was a life-long resident of Harford County and was the beloved matriarch of her family. They share fond memories of Sunday dinner, Easter supper and Christmas holidays on the porch with her famous Christmas grab bag for everyone in the family. Mrs. Hutton was above a faithful follower and servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a member of Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church since 1998 and rarely missed a service. Her church family and guests always looked forward to her smile and a hug.

Tressie is survived by a host of family and friends, including: her daughter Shirley Roe, of Street, MD and "chosen son" Harold Ray, of Waynesboro, GA. She was predeceased by three sons; Willard Hutton, John Hutton, Sr. and Larry Junior Hutton (husband of Sherrie A. Hutton of Street, MD).

Twelve grandchildren; Terry Lynn (Dennis) Bennington, of Whiteford, MD, Sue Ann (Butch) Young, of Darlington, MD, John Hutton, Jr., of Whiteford, MD, Loretta (Carl) Johnson, of Whiteford, MD, James (Dawn) Hutton, of Conowingo, MD, Kim (Earl) Ford, of Baltimore, MD, Angie (Mark) Aldrich, Whiteford, MD, Edith (Robert) Joline, Delta, PA, Kevin (Sharie) Hutton, of Street, MD, Jennifer (Robert) Moffett, of Salisbury, MD, Tanya (Randy) Williams, of Whiteford, MD and John (Erin) Kimhart, of Silver Spring, MD. Twenty-three great grandchildren and twenty-six great-great grandchildren remain to cherish her memory. Tressie was also preceded in death by four siblings; Lena Wagg, Grace Crouse, Flora Barlow and Kernel Cox.

Services for Tressie will be held on Thursday June 24, 2021 at Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD, 21154, with Revered Tracy J. Duvall officiating. A visitation will be held at the church from 11-12 PM and the funeral service will begin at 12 noon. Interment will follow in Bel Air Memorial Gardens, Bel Air, MD.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorial contributions be made to Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church at the above address.
