W. JAMES STEELE, age 82 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died in his home on Friday, July 29, 2005 at 3:30 AM.
Mr. Steele was born on April 20, 1923 in Peach Bottom Township; he was the son of the late John and Mary L. (Maglaughlin) Steele. He was a lifetime resident of Delta. He was a WWII United States Army veteran serving in the Pacific Theater, the Philippine Islands, and Japan. He had worked as an engineering technician for over twenty-five years for the Edgewood Arsenal in Harford County, Maryland. He retired in 1974.
Mr. Steele was a member and past Commander of the John S. Murphy VFW Post #7130 in Delta, Pennsylvania and a member of the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, Maryland.
He had been a life member of the Delta Fish and Game Association.
He is survived by:
One daughter-
Tania Steele of Delta, Pennsylvania
One stepdaughter-
Patricia D. Fantom of Delta, Pennsylvania
One sister-
Margaret Shoulberg of Budd Lake, New Jersey
Also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Clarence "Tink" Steele, and Albert M. Steele.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta, Pennsylvania with Pastor Jack Craft of Slateville Presbyterian Church presiding.
Military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society-York Unit, 924 N. Colonial Avenue, York, PA, 17403.
