IN LOVING MEMORY OF
W. William "Bill"
Craig
May 17, 1938 – October 28, 2024
WALTER WILLIAM 'BILL' CRAIG 86 of Airville, PA passed away peacefully in the late hours of Monday, October 28, 2024. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Meier) Craig for 59 years. Born on May 17, 1938 at home in Fawn Grove, PA, he was one of three children born to the late Walter H. Craig and Mary C. (Uffleman) Craig.
Born on the family farm, Bill had a deep love for agriculture and farmed in the Fawn Grove area for numerous years. In the earlier years, he milked cows in addition to growing field crops. Later the cows were sold and he concentrated on field work planting the crops in the spring and finding deep satisfaction in the harvest season bringing in the rewards of his labors. In 1976, he continued farming and joined the Susquehanna Laborers' Union working at the Peach Bottom Atomic Plant in Delta, retiring in 2000.
Farming was always first and foremost in his mind and heart. Bill loved to share stories about harvesting, milking the cows and working with his horses until he passed. He was known as somewhat of an ornery man, enjoyed a beer here and there and shared stories of his younger years with the boys around Fawn Grove.
Bill was a member of the Orbisonia, PA Deer Club of Huntington County, PA where he enjoyed hunting and spending weekends with family and friends in the cabin. A devoted Freemason and longtime member, he belonged to Friendship Lodge #663 F. & A. M. of Fawn Grove.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
A daughter, Shelly (Jeff) Griffith of Delta, PA
A son, David Craig of Airville, PA
A sister, Kathryn Van Dyle of the Woodbine area of Airville, PA
Five grandsons: Nathan, Nicholas, Ethan, James and Joshua
Five great grandchildren: Shaun, Zoe, Lillie, Madison and Lyra
