WALTER S. HODGES, age 84 years, of Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania died on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 10:30 PM in his home. He was the companion of Laverne (Harvey) Kuester and the husband of the late Doris (Gray) Hodges who died in 1982.

Mr. Hodges was born on November 22, 1921 in Havre de Grace, Maryland; a son of the late Thomas F. and Grace (Beall) Hodges. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving in WWII. He worked for Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Maryland as a Range Supervisor, retiring in 1979. He moved to Fawn Grove from Aberdeen, Maryland over nineteen years ago. He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church and had served as trustee and grounds keeper.

Mr. Hodges was a life member of the VFW Post in Fawn Grove, Pennsylvania and a life member of the American Legion Post #128 in Aberdeen, Maryland. He enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, hunting, fishing and crabbing. He enjoyed watching all sports games on television.

He is survived by:

A daughter-Joy A. Dodson of Havre de Grace, Maryland

One grandchild and three great grandchildren

A brother-Joseph B. Hodges of Aberdeen, Maryland

Loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two children, Debrah Hodges and Steven Hodges. Also siblings-Zora Mason, Helen Young, Virginia Andrews and Frank Hodges.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Reverend Margaret Smith, Chaplain of Heartland Hospice and Reverend Judy Walker, Pastor of Delta United Methodist Church will officiate.

Visitation with the family will be held on hour prior to the funeral services at the funeral home from 10-11AM.

Interment will be in Harford Memorial Gardens, Aberdeen, Maryland.

Pallbearers will be Mark Dodson, Mike Hodges, Greg Kuester, Michael Miller, John Wales and Robert Lloyd.
