Life story prepared by his family - Walter Warren Findley, Sr. (1930 – 2025)

Walter "Pop" Findley was a hardworking husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He died peacefully the morning of Sunday January 12, 2025 at 94 years young.

Walter was born October 12, 1930 in Parkton, Maryland, to the late Walter & Irma Findley. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 38 years, the loving mother of his children, Joyce Stewart Findley, in 1987, and his second wife, Betty Heizer Findley, in 2016, after more than 25 years of marriage. Walter's youngest son John Findley also preceded his death in 2023.

Walter leaves behind 4 children and their families; Bobbie Carr of Winfield, Kansas, Walter "Skip" Findley, Jr. & Edith of Darlington, Maryland, Mary & Jeff Kidd of Rising Sun, Maryland and Winifred "Winnie" Findley, of Street, Maryland. His legacy lives on through his grandchildren, Walter "Skipper" Findley, III, Michael Findley, Shannon Welford, and great-grandchildren, Alexis Findley, Summer Welford, and Autumn Welford. He was known as Pop by his stepchild and step-grandchildren as well. His first great-great-grandchild was welcomed by Alexis Findley and Pat Hurley, Jr. just 4 days before his passing.

Walter was most well known as a dedicated bus driver, having served Harford County Public Schools as a contract driver until he was 88 years old. He always was known for having the cleanest buses in Harford County! Before his bussing career, he owned and operated service stations around Harford County and was awarded for having the cleanest stations in the county! He was respected by those who worked for him, and with him, throughout his career.

A viewing will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2025 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.

Walter will be laid to rest alongside his loving wife Joyce at Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery, 911 Cherry Hill Road, Street, Maryland on Friday the 17th. Please gather under the tent for the 12 noon service.

Pallbearers will be Walter "Skip" Findley, Jr., Walter "Skipper" Findley, III, Michael Findley, Jeff Kidd, Lee Addison, and Craig Laird. Mason Springstead will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
