WANDA COCHRAN SMITH, 80 of Whiteford, MD, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, July 19, 2024 with her loving family at her bedside. Married on June 20, 1964, she was the beloved wife for 60 years of Charles Edward Smith.
Born on May 8, 1944 in Baltimore, MD, she was the second of four children born to the late Charles Clayton Cochran and Carolyn Mahala (Glackin) Cochran. Wanda was a 1962 graduate of North Harford High School and worked for the Whiteford Post Office as a mail carrier until her daughter, Lori was born. She then chose to stay at home and become a full time wife and mother. Later in her life, she returned to working for the post office followed by many years of service for the local John Deere Dealership, known as Enfield Equipment at the time, in the parts department. Wanda was a caring person with a kind heart. She had been a lifetime member of St. Mary, Pylesville Catholic Parish where her services will be held.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by:
A daughter, Lori J. Robbins (Rick) of Delta, PA
A grandson, Matthew R. Robbins (Meghan) of Mechanicsburg, PA
A great granddaughter, Brooklyn Robbins.
Two siblings-Sandra C. Scott and Martin E. Cochran and his wife, Kay
She was preceded in death by a sister, Judith Ann Binkley and niece Kimberlee Anna Geho.
A visitation with her family will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 from 6-9 p.m.at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 1030 a.m. on Friday at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Parish, 1021 St. Mary's Road, Pylesville, MD with burial following the mass in the adjoining church cemetery. Reverend John Rapisarda, parish priest will be the celebrant.
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate contributions to the Delta Senior Center 5 Pendyrus St., Delta, PA 17314.
Burial will follow the Mass in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jamie Reeves, Rick Enfield, Jimmy Wilson, Matthew Robbins, Bill Hushon and Lorenzo Mannino. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph V. Glackin, Rick Robbins, Dennis Emmill, Jack Whitmer and Edward L. Waltemyer.
