Obituary

William B. (Bud) Powers, age 86 years, of Delta, PA and formerly of Darlington, MD, died peacefully at home, with his wife at his side, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 27, 2021. He was the husband of Grace Ann (Stauffer) Powers.

Born in Fleetwood, NC, on January 26, 1935, he was the third of eight children of the late Henry Harden and Vina Ann (Surber) Powers. Bud was preceded in death by his siblings.

At the age of 12, his family moved to Harford County. Bud began his career in retail at Woolworth in Bel Air, MD, and then he entered the Army in 1959 until his Honorable Discharge in 1963. In the mid-1960s, Bud, along with his brothers, John and Harold, joined forces to own and operate Glen Echo Motel and Superette on Route 1 in Darlington. In the early 1980's they sold the business, and Bud moved to southern Lancaster County, where he worked as a Gate Guard at Muddy Run Park in Holtwood, PA. Bud and his wife, Grace, moved to Forest Hill, MD, in 2000, and Bud worked at Wal-Mart in Abingdon until his retirement in 2013.

A kind and gentle man, Bud loved the Lord, his family, and friends and enjoyed many travels with his wife, Grace, and working outside in their flower and vegetable gardens. Following his retirement, he also enjoyed his time spent with friends at the Delta Senior Center.

He is survived by his wife, Grace.

Funeral services will be private.
