William E. Dickerson, age 88 years, of Darlington, MD went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 26 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center. He was the husband of Ruth E. (Jones) Dickerson. They would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2.

Mr. Dickerson was born on April 7, 1921 at Welch, West Virginia a son of the late Ernest & Susie (Keen) Dickerson. He retired in 1980 from Bainbridge Naval Station where he was the water plant supervisor when they closed down Bainbridge. He had previously worked at Edgewood Arsenal and Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was the former Sunday School supervisor for 40 years at Evangelical Methodist Church. He attended Trappe Baptist Church. Mr. Dickerson loved bowling , fishing and had played minor league baseball in his younger days.

In addition to his wife he is survived by 1 son- Donald C. Dickerson of Darlington, MD

1 daughter - Janis S. Williams and her husband David.

4 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

1 sister- Marie Sherwood of Ridgely, MD and 1 brother Robert Dickerson of Fruitland, MD

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 29 at 12 PM at Porters Grove Baptist Church, 475 Connelly Road, Rising Sun, MD with a visitation for 2 hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
