WILLIAM GROVER SWIFT, age 85 years, of Delta, Pennsylvania died on Monday, October 11, 2010 at Manor Care York South in York, Pennsylvania. He was the husband of Faye Etta (Anderson) Swift and on September 18, 2010, they celebrated their 62nd anniversary.
Born on December 12, 1924 in Woodbine, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late William H. and Lula (Shenberger) Swift. Mr. Swift was a lifetime resident of Delta and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church in Airville, Pennsylvania and a member of the former Odd Fellows Lodge in Delta. Retiring in 1990, he had worked in the foundry as a core maker for the Buck Company in the Buck area of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Swift was a gardener, farmer, loved spending time with his family, and in his younger years, he enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
A son, Jeffrey L. Swift and his wife, Cindy of Holtwood, Pennsylvania
Grandchildren: Amanda Swift, Alyssa Swift and Adam Swift.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda D. Swift in 1952.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.
Services on Friday, October 15th will be held at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302 with a visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11 a.m. His pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler will officiate.
Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pine Grove Church Building Fund at the above address
