Obituary

LIFE STORY PREPARED BY HIS FAMILY - William (Bill) Vilas Greene, 68, of New Park, Pa, passed away in the arms of his loving wife surrounded by family at his home on July 27, 2021. Bill was born at St. Agnes Hospital, Baltimore MD to loving parents. He was a devoted and loving husband to Patty J. (Monroe) Greene for just over 50 years.

Bill proudly served as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War era. When he returned to civilian life he worked as a 1st Class diesel truck mechanic, retiring from Ryder Truck Rental in Aberdeen, MD with 20 years of service. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his beloved family. Bill enjoyed many activities, some of his favorites included gatherings with family and friends, camping and fishing. He will always be remembered for his "famous" Bill burgers. He loved hosting many family holidays with his favorite being Thanksgiving. Bill had a deep personal relationship with God that helped him through his 10 year battle with cancer. Bill will be deeply missed by those he loved and his family and friends will hold his memory in their hearts forever.

In addition to his beloved wife Bill is survived by three children; Todd William (Karen) Greene, of Fawn Grove, PA; Shana Nicole (Randy) Hauf, of Joppa, MD; Aaron Vilas (Kate) Greene, of Cincinnati, OH. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, two sisters and one brother. He is also survived by one sister, Frances Jeannette (Art) Sears, of Pasadena, MD. His memory will forever be cherished by his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held for Bill on Friday August 6, 2021 from 5pm to 8 pm at Harkins Funeral Home 600 Main Street, Delta PA 17314. Graveside services will be held August 7, 2021 at 2 pm at Prospect United Methodist Church, 8 Orchard Road, New Park, PA 17352. Pastor Robert H. Harris will officiate and military honors will be presented by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
