WILLIS P. MCNUTT, age 92 years of Darlington, Maryland died on Thursday, August
31, 2006 at Citizens Care Center in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
Mr. McNutt was born on August 21, 1914 in Darlington, Maryland; a son of the late Edwin T. and Sarah (Twaddell) McNutt. He was a lifetime resident of Harford County, Maryland. He was a United States Army Veteran of WWII serving in the American Theater, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater, in the liberation of the Philippine Islands and in Manila. Retiring in 1974, he worked as an assistant operator for the Conowingo Dam/Power Plant for thirty years. Mr. McNutt was a member of the Darlington United Methodist Church and a member of the Elks Lodge in Havre de Grace, Maryland. He also was a member of the Jerry Skrivanek VFW Post #8185 in Post Deposit, Maryland and the American Legion Post #39 in Bel Air, Maryland for over sixty years.
He loved good music, flowers, and was an avid golfer. He was a very caring uncle and great uncle.
He is survived by:
A brother, Alfred E. McNutt of East End, North Carolina
Two sisters:
Sarah Brown and her husband, Charles of Darlington, Maryland.
Emalyn Kirkwood and her husband, Edwin of Bel Air, Maryland
Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin McNutt and a half-brother, Wesley Mc Nutt.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, Pennsylvania.
Reverend Dr. John E. McKnight, Evangelical Methodist Church will officiate.
Visitations with the family will be held at the funeral home on Monday, September 4th from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday morning just prior to the funeral service from 10-11 a.m.
Interment will be in Darlington Cemetery, Darlington, Maryland with military honors presented by the National Guard Military Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Harford Christian School, PO Box 88, Darlington, Maryland 21034.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Kirkwood, Joel Bullis, Daniel McNutt, Douglas McNutt, Scott Kelly and Jacob Coldiron.
