ZATAE B. ATKINS, age 90 years of Airville, PA, died on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Dallastown Nursing Center. She was the wife of Evan Thomas Atkins and at the time of his death in October, 2009, they had shared 60 years of marriage.

Born on February 22, 1925 in Mechanicsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Zatae Elizabeth (Myers) Beetem and a graduate of the Schuylkill Haven High School. Mrs. Atkins continued her education graduating with her B.A. degree from Elizabethtown College where she was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She began her teaching career in 1946 at the former Lower Chanceford High School, followed by teaching for the South Eastern School District at Kennard Dale High School from the mid-1950's until the mid-1980's having taught in the very same classroom the entire time.

Mrs. Atkins was a 50+ year member of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church where she was a longtime choir member and had served as a church elder in addition to church treasurer. She was a previous moderator for the Presbyterian Women of the Presbytery of Donegal and of Pine Grove. She had been commissioned to the Synod of Trinity. A longtime member of Mason-Dixon Community Services Board of Directors, Mrs. Atkins had served as treasurer in addition to other offices.

She is survived by-

A son, Robert A. Atkins and his wife, Rosalee of Red Lion, PA

Two grandchildren-

Sabrina Borra and her husband, Brian of Greenbrook, NJ

Stacee Olajos and her husband, Andrew of Millville, DE

A great granddaughter, Adalee Olajos

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 from 9:30 – 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Road, Airville, PA 17302.

Her pastor, Reverend James B. Shuler will officiate with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
