Katharine K. Wagner-Elfner

Funeral Director, Owner

Katharine was born and raised in South York and graduated from Oldfields School in Glencoe, Maryland, in 2005. She attended Albright College as a pre-med major before stepping away to explore other career paths. After several years working in outside sales throughout York and Adams Counties, Katharine felt a strong pull toward a more service-driven profession … one centered on care, connection, and purpose.

In 2017, she returned to school full time while continuing to work, completing the coursework required to apply to the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. She entered the funeral profession in 2019, completed her internship and embalming requirements, and graduated from PIMS in 2021. Katharine became a licensed funeral director in Pennsylvania in January of 2022. Her commitment to learning every aspect of funeral service ultimately led to ownership of the former Burg Funeral Home on May 16, 2023.

Katharine and her husband, Nathan, have two sons, Sam and Maxwell, who are often seen around the funeral home, along with their two golden doodles, Pete and Frank. Outside of work, Katharine enjoys spending time with her family, cooking, weight lifting & running, cruising, and weekly Sunday dinners with extended family.
Katharine is deeply passionate about funeral service and values being present for families from the very first call through the final moments of remembrance. She considers it an honor to be entrusted with the care of a loved one and to guide families through one of the most difficult times in their lives.

In Memoriam – Patricia C. “Patti” Hushon Lovelidge (1958–2025)

Patricia C. (Thomas) Hushon Lovelidge — affectionately known as Patti — faithfully served the families of Harkins Funeral Home from 1994 until her retirement in early 2025. For more than three decades, Patti was a steady, compassionate presence behind the scenes and a familiar, comforting face to many in our community.

What began as part-time work to support her young family grew into a lifelong calling. Over the years, Patti’s role evolved significantly as she assumed responsibility for many of the day-to-day operations of the funeral home, helping ensure that every family was cared for with dignity, organization, and genuine compassion. Her dedication, attention to detail, and unwavering heart for service made her an indispensable part of the Harkins team and a trusted support to countless families.

A devout Christian, Patti viewed her work not simply as a job, but as ministry. In 2019, she founded the Gone Too Soon program — an all-volunteer outreach providing comfort and dignity to families grieving the loss of an infant. Through her faith, leadership, and tireless advocacy, the program expanded to serve four Maryland hospitals and continues today as a lasting testament to her compassion and vision.

Beyond the funeral home, Patti was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mentor, and community leader. She was deeply involved in agricultural youth programs, helping establish nationally recognized dairy exhibitions that shaped and inspired thousands of young people. She was also an avid quilter, lovingly creating handmade blankets for the many families and children she cherished.

Patti passed away peacefully on May 29, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Lovelidge; her sons Joshua (Casey), Jacob (Wendy), and Joseph (Ashley); her brother David (Gail) Thomas; and her beloved grandchildren Toby, Beckham, Trace, and Dalton, with a fifth grandchild expected.

Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, the families she comforted, and the ministry she built. Patti’s kindness, faith, and servant’s heart continue to inspire us daily. She will always remain part of the Harkins family.
