Life Story for Ira Edward Woods

Ira Edward  Woods
IRA EDWARD WOODS, age 79 years, of Darlington, MD died on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2:35 a.m. at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center in Bel Air, MD. He was the husband of Donna (Raley) Woods with whom he had shared nearly 13 years of marriage. Mr. Woods was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Geraldine Woods on March 26, 1997.

Born on August 4, 1932 in Newhall, WV, he was a son of the late Robert James and Carmen (Asbury) Woods. Mr. Woods was the owner/operator of Gold Star Moving and Storage in Street, MD from 1975 until 2008. Since 1977, he was a member of Bethel Apostolic Church in Havre de Grace, MD where he was very active and served in many areas to maintain and improve his church.

Mr. Woods was an U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He was known as a dedicated husband and father, and never met a stranger.

Nancy Bowman of Newhall, WV

Six step-children

Chance Garci of Street, MD
Christian Garci of Bel Air, MD
Shawn Garci of Street, MD
April Moskes of Port Deposit, MD
Marisha Johnson of Darlington, MD

30 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren

He was preceded in death by a sister, Hazel P. Barnes.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Friday the 3rd from 10 to 11 a.m. at Bethel Apostolic Church, 21 N. Earlton Road Ext., Havre de Grace, MD 21078. Funeral services will follow on Friday at 11 a.m. with his minister, Pastor Buddy Flosser presiding.

Interment will be in Dublin Southern Cemetery, Darlington, MD.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to the church at the above address.
