Life Story for Virginia Amstutz

Virginia  Amstutz
VIRGINIA AMSTUTZ, age 94 years, died on Sunday, February 17, 2013 in her home in Galax, Virginia. Born on October 2, 1918 in Grayson County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Leona (Hash) LaRue.

While living in Darlington, Maryland, Virginia worked for 20 years at the former Bata Shoe Company in Belcamp, Maryland. She had returned to Virginia approximately 15 years ago. A homemaker in retirement, she enjoyed quilting, flowers, cooking and the art of canning foods. She had attended Elk Horn Baptist Church of Galax.

She is survived by
Five children-
Dorothy Ann Anders and her husband, Hurley of Bel Air, Maryland
Gwyn Scott Blackburn and his wife, Teresa of Galax
Phyllis Louise Boyd of Carthage, Mississippi
Kermit Junior Blackburn and his wife, Cindy of Darlington, Maryland
Melissa Sue Blevins of Independence, Virginia

A sister, Cora Adkins of Galax

Two brothers-
John LaRue of Missouri
Mack LaRue of Jefferson, North Carolina

Sixteen grandchildren, several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Hazel Juanita Ayers, siblings-Lester LaRue, Oscar LaRue, Rudco LaRue and Jack LaRue.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, Delta, Pennsylvania where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. with Reverend Jerry Woods of Gospel Lighthouse Free Will Baptist Church in Nottingham, Pennsylvania officiating.

Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.
