Life Story for Howard B. Cantler, Sr.

Howard B.  Cantler, Sr.
HOWARD B. CANTLER, Sr., age 83 years, of Oxford, PA, formerly of Pylesville, MD, died on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at the Chester County Hospital in West Chester, PA. He was the husband of Janet R. (DeVoe) Cantler who died on February 16, 2001.

Born on August 25, 1929 in Delta, PA, he was a son of the late George T. and Ida (Hill) Cantler. Mr. Cantler was a United States Air Force Veteran, serving from 1946 – 1948 and also served as Assistant Fire Chief in the Air Force Reserves. Mr. Cantler retired in September 1979 after 31 years working as a fire fighter at Edgewood Arsenal and Aberdeen Proving Ground. He was a lifetime member of the John S. Murphy VFW Post #7130 in Delta, PA and the Slate Ridge American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD. He was a member of the Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church of Cardiff, MD.

He is survived by:
A son, Howard B. Cantler, Jr. of Red Lion, PA

A daughter, Catherine Campbell and her husband, Dave of Oxford, PA

A sister, Lillian Enfield of Red Lion, PA

Four grandchildren-
Chris Cantler, Jennifer Lewis, Benjamin Cantler and Randy Campbell.

Four great grandchildren-Hope Cheyenne Campbell, Hunter Lewis, Martin Lewis, Jr. and Josh Lewis.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, the 17th at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Airville, PA officiating.

Interment will be in Bel Air Memorial Gardens with military honors.
