Life Story for Bessie Delores Grant

Bessie Delores  Grant
BESSIE DELORES GRANT, age 69 years, died on Saturday, April 27, 2013 in her home in Street, MD. Born on December 17, 1943 in the Rocks area of Harford County, MD, she was a daughter of the late Clinton Holland and Marian (Wallace) Miller and the wife of Daniel Grant.

A lifetime resident of the area, Bessie was a 1962 graduate of the former Central Consolidated High School in Hickory, MD and continued her education in business/accounting at Harford Community College in Bel Air, MD. A member of Chestnut Grove A.M.E. Church in Street, MD, Bessie was active in various leadership roles, was a Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent, on the Steward Board and recently was instrumental in adding a church outreach program. She also had been active in prison ministry.

Bessie had worked for the Klein Family of Forest Hill, MD for over 40 years at their grocery stores where she was a baker for the last 15 years. She loved to cook and her specialty was making holiday bread baskets filled with her homemade rolls.

She is survived by:
A son, Thomas C. Grant of Street, MD

A brother, Horace M. Wallace, Sr. and his wife, Mary of Airville, PA

Her aunts-
Edna Holland of Street, MD
Shirley Onley, Tyrie Buchanan and Evelyn Brown, all of York, PA

Her uncle, Robert Wallace of Churchville, MD

Nieces and nephews- Veronica “Gail”, Leslie, Horace Jr.; and Gregory

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Arnold Miller.

Visitation will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, the 4th at 11 a.m. at Chestnut Grove A.M.E., 828 Coen Road, Street, MD with interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
