Life Story for Joseph E. Wiley

Joseph E.  Wiley
JOSEPH E. WILEY, age 84 years, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 in his home in Delta, PA. He was the husband of Nora Jane (Heiner) Wiley with whom he had shared 58 years of marriage.

Born in Delta, PA on September 24, 1928, Mr. Wiley was a lifetime resident of Delta and a son of the late Walter C. and Laura (Stephens) Wiley.

Mr. Wiley was a US Army veteran. Retiring in 1987 from the Baltimore Local of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, he continued as a self-employed trucker. He was a longtime member of Slateville Presbyterian Church, in addition to memberships at the John S. Murphy V.F.W. Post #7130 in Delta, Delta Vol. Fire Company and the Delta-Peach Bottom Fish & Game. He enjoyed his “old cars” and was an avid NASCAR fan, always rooting for Tony Stewart to win. He cherished the times spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
A son, Jeff C. Wiley and his wife, Dee of Delta, PA

A grandson, Kris Wiley and his wife, Julie of New Park, PA

A granddaughter, Kayla Wiley and her companion, Larry Seymour, III of Delta, PA

A great grandson, Larry Seymour, IV of Delta

Numerous loving nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Wiley.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 14, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, Airville, PA will officiate.

Interment will be in Slateville Cemetery, Delta, PA with military honors presented by the York County Veteran Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions be made to Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA or Delta Vol. Fire Co., PO Box 15, Delta, PA 17314
