Life Story for James Joseph DeRan, III

James Joseph  DeRan, III
JAMES JOSEPH DERAN, III, age 76 years, died in his home in Delta, PA on Sunday, September 15, 2013. Born in Baltimore, MD on July 20, 1936, he was a son of the late James Joseph DeRan, Jr., and Helen (Harry) DeRan.

Mr. DeRan was a 1954 graduate of North Harford High School in Pylesville, MD, and a lifetime resident of the area. He had served 4 years in the U.S. Navy before completing 16 years with the U.S. Air Force. Mr. DeRan retired in 2003 from Aberdeen Proving Ground with 20 years of service as a Truck Driver/Ammo Handler. He was a member of the John S. Murphy V.F.W. Post #7130 in Delta and the American Legion Post #182 in Whiteford, MD. He enjoyed watching sports on television, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers, Baltimore Orioles and the University of Maryland Terps.

He is survived by:
Two children-
Diane Daum and her husband, Robert Andy Daum, II of Mountville, PA
Brian DeRan of Los Angeles, CA

Three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A sister, Sally Grace and her husband, Bob of Castleton, VT

Three brothers-
Charles Harry DeRan and his wife, Carole of Bel Air, MD
John DeRan of Delta, PA
David DeRan and his wife, Roxanne of Delta, PA

He was preceded in death by a son, Michael DeRan.

Following cremation, “A Celebration of Life” will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the American Legion Post #182, 2217 Whiteford Road, Whiteford, MD.
