Life Story for R. Carl Colvin

R. Carl  Colvin
R. CARL COLVIN, age 82 years of Delta, PA, died on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Hospice & Community Care in Lancaster, PA. He was the husband of Beverly (Asbury) Colvin, and they had shared 59 years of marriage.

Born on September 7, 1931 in Airville, PA, he was a son of the late Clair and Margaret (Snyder) Colvin. Carl was the owner/operator of Colvin Bus Service, LLC serving the Southeastern School District for over 45 years. A 50 year plus year member of Slateville Presbyterian Church, he had served as a trustee and had spent 40 years operating a second business, Delta Auto Sales.

Carl actively served the Delta Vol. Fire Co. for over 50 years and was a member of Friendship Lodge #663, F. &A.M. of Fawn Grove, PA. Additional memberships included the Har-Ce Forest #142-Tall Cedars of Lebanon, York County Shrine Club, Red Lion Scottish Rite Club, Zembo Shrine of Harrisburg and the Susquehanna Shrine Club of Boumi Temple.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by:
Two children-
Dean C. Colvin and his wife, Kerry of Fawn Grove, PA
Kimberly Taylor and her husband, Scott of Delta, PA

Five grandchildren-Emily Kuehne, Jaime I. Colvin, Craig R. Colvin, Kellen Taylor and Kara Schama

A great granddaughter, Alexandra H. Kuehne

A sister, Shirley D. Peterson and her husband, David of York, PA

Two step-sisters:
Peggy Lou Ritz and her husband, Chet of Lititz, PA
Beverly Distefano and her husband, Pete

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9th from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, the 10th at 11 a.m. at Slateville Presbyterian Church 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA. 17314 with Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church officiating.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to his church at the above address or to Hospice & Community Care, PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
