Life Story for Dale Burton Miller

Dale Burton  Miller
DALE BURTON MILLER, age 81 of Fawn Grove, PA, died on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Pleasant Acres Nursing Center in York, PA. He was the husband of Shirley (Harvey) Miller who passed away on April 15, 2000.

Born on June 25, 1933 in Fawn Grove, he was one of seven children of the late Burton Eugene and Bessie (Shanbarger) Miller and attended the former Delta High School. Mr. Miller worked for the Fawn Grove Service Station in all aspects of the business followed by over ten years as an operator for Transco. He later worked for his brothers, Paul and Eugene at Miller Plumbing before beginning his own septic service in 1971 known as Dale Miller & Son, Inc. His son, Mike helped part time and later in 1983 began working full time followed by his grandsons, Jared and Paul assisting with the family business. Mr. Miller retired in the fall of 2007.

Mr. Miller was a lifetime member of Citizens V.F.C. in Fawn Grove, a member of the Harford-Cecil Vol. Firemen’s Association Hall of Fame and was a past member of the board of directors for Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church where he had been a lifetime member. He enjoyed watching Martins and had many bird boxes at his home for their nesting. He enjoyed going to the beach with his camper, watching his grandsons compete at local racetracks, taking his granddaughter on special trips, fishing and hunting. Mr. Miller along with his late wife, Shirley, was always known for their love of Dachshunds and many were family pets.

He is survived by:
A son, Michael E. Miller and his wife, Susan of Fawn Grove, PA

Three grandchildren-
Jared M. Miller and his wife, Morgan of Fawn Grove
Paul B. Miller and his wife, Angela of Fawn Grove
Michelle Miller Bonanno and her husband, Matthew of Royersford, PA

Four great grandchildren-
Paige Miller, Bethany Bonanno, Levi Dale Miller and Teresa Bonanno

A brother, Paul R. Miller of Cardiff, MD

A sister, Romaine Miller Webb of Orlando, FL

He was preceded in death by siblings- Helen Miller Scott, Eugene Miller, Evelyn Miller Tyson and Everitt Miller.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2015 from 10 to 11 a.m. followed immediately with the funeral service at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olivet U.M.C., 786 Mt. Olivet Church Road, Fawn Grove, PA 17321.

His minister, Pastor Beth R. Holz will officiate.

Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery followed by a time of refreshments and fellowship in the church social hall.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to his church at the above address or to Citizens V.F.C., P.O. Box 6, Fawn Grove, PA 17321.
