Memories of Granny Miriam

My sweet and beloved Granny is no longer in pain. She would probably tell me not to cry, that she's at peace and its God's will. So instead I would like to tell you some memories I have of her: Her faith. Never once did I see it falter. Last summer she was comforting me when she got some sad medical news, telling me it's God's will, wrapping me in a hug. Treasurer of her church over 25 years! What an accomplishment for anyone! Her sweet tooth. She loved the sweets but especially loved sharing them with family and friends, given the opportunity. Her love for her family and friends. She was famous for staying in touch with letters across the miles. Finally, one of the favorite gifts I ever received was from her. I was 8 or 9 and for my birthday, she sent me the series The Chronicles of Narnia. (Again, the mail!) Always an avid reader, I devoured the books, especially the first book (The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe). I think I read it in 1 day. Only years later did I read about the symbolism of the book, specifically religious symbolism. Go figure! I have no doubt she is reunited with my Grandfather and loving us from above. Heaven has certainly gained an angel.
