Obituary for Brenda J. Flahart

BRENDA J. FLAHART, age 76 of Delta, PA died on Sunday, May 21, 2017 at York Hospital in York, PA.
Born in Delta, she was a daughter of the late William Everett and Virginia (Burkins) Flahart. Brenda was a 1959 graduate of Kennard-Dale High School in Fawn Grove, PA. She retired as a budget technician in 2003 from the Aberdeen Proving Ground where she had held various jobs for 18 years. Following this, she worked for the South Eastern School District until her full retirement in 2014. A longtime and very active member of the Delta United Methodist Church, she served as the church organist for 45 years, and, also, as choir director. Brenda enjoyed joining the “Lunch Bunch,” an informal group who go out to lunch after church. Her hobbies included crossword puzzles, TV game shows, shuffleboard leagues, belly dancing and sending cards to friends and family. She loved her family and her cat, Stray. In addition to her church, Brenda’s memberships include the Delta Senior Center, Delta-Cardiff Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, Slate Ridge Post #182, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary in Whiteford, MD and she was a social member of John S. Murphy Post #7130, V.F.W., Delta.


She is survived by:
One son, Jonathan G. Flahart of Fawn Grove, PA

Two grandsons; Brock Everett Flahart and Bryce Randall Flahart, both of Delta

One great grandson, Bryson Bentley Flahart

Two sisters; Barbara J. Haller-Berkebile of Delta; Beverly J. Smith and her husband, Robert of New Freedom, PA;

One niece, Kristian Smith

Two nephews; James Haller and Timothy Haller.

Her caregiver, Sue Wolf

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 11:00 a.m. at the Delta United Methodist Church, 213 Main Street, Delta, PA 17314

Viewings will be held on Wednesday, May 31 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA and at the church on Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m.

Interment will be in Slate Ridge Cemetery, Delta.
