Life Story for Ruth E. "Aunt Ruthie" Culler

Ruth E. "Aunt Ruthie" Culler
RUTH EDITH THOMAS CULLER, 88 years of Street, MD, died on Friday, January 26, 2018 in the home of her caregivers, the Croft Family, in Delta, PA. Married on Valentine’s Day 1959, she was the beloved wife of the late Earl F.Culler with whom she had shared nearly 50 years of marriage at the time of his passing in March of 2008.

Born in the family farmhouse on August 21, 1929 in Upper Crossroads, MD, she was the eleventh child of thirteen born to the late Samuel Frederick and Ruth (Linton) Thomas and a graduate of Bel Air High School. After working for Boyd & Fulford Drug Store on Main Street, the former Reuben’s Drive-In on Rt. 1, she settled into her 35-year career with the former A&P Grocery Store, all in Bel Air, MD. Ruth and her late husband enjoyed the simple things in life: seasonal trips to their Western Maryland vacation home, family dinners, eating crabs and mowing the yard together. She was known for her culinary talents, especially her cranberry salad and coleslaw. A kind spirit, she was called “Aunt Ruthie” by just about everyone, and it brought her great joy. She attended Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church where she had worked in the nursery and cherished her church family.

She is survived by:
A brother, Raymond A. Thomas and his wife, Ella Mae of Pylesville, MD

A niece, Patricia Thomas Hushon of Delta, PA and her family

A nephew, Wayne M. Culler of Bel Air, MD and his family

Numerous additional nieces and nephews of the Thomas and Culler Families.

Three special great-great nephews: Landon, Toby and Beckham.

Neighbors, the Dilworth Family of Street, MD and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by 11 siblings.

Services will be held on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 in Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, 3135 Dublin Road, Street, MD 21154 with a viewing from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. followed immediately with the funeral service.

Her pastor, Reverend Tracy J. Duvall will officiate. Following the service there will be a time of fellowship with refreshments in the church social hall.

A private interment will be held in Bel Air Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the church at the above address.
