Life Story for Eleanor J. Strickler
ELEANOR J. STRICKLER, age 89 years of Airville, PA formerly of Delta, PA died on Thursday, September 25, 2014 in the Haven at Springwood in York, PA. She was the wife of Colvin J. “Jake” Strickler who died on January 10, 1995.
Born on July 18, 1925 in Delta, she was one of twelve children born to her parents, the late Paul R. and Anna (Price) Scott. Mrs. Strickler was a longtime member of Delta U. M. Church, joining in 1945 and had worked at the former Jady’s Drive-In of Delta and the former Charlie’s Place in Whiteford, MD. She was very active in the Ladies Auxiliary divisions of the Delta-Cardiff V.F.C., the John S. Murphy Post #7130 in Delta and the Slate Ridge Post # 182 of the American Legion in Whiteford, MD.
She is survived by:
Four children-
Reed L. Strickler of Boynton Beach, FL
Eric J. Strickler and his wife, Sue of Elkton, MD
George D. Strickler and his wife, Melody of Airville, PA
Steve A. Strickler and his wife, Theresa of Delta, PA
A brother, William Scott and his wife, Mary Lou of Red Lion, PA
Four sisters-
Margaret Bowers of Oscala, FL
Elaine Derickson and her husband, Bill of Havre de Grace, MD
Sandra Jones and her husband, Donald of Delta, PA
AnnaMary Riley and her husband, Ed of Delta, PA
Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by a son, Colvin J. “Bud” Strickler, II on February 16, 2004;granddaughter, Kimberly Strickler; brothers Curtis, Price, Edward and Robert Scott; sisters Helen Charboneau and Ruth Helton.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 11 a.m.
Her minister, Pastor Beth Holz will officiate with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Airville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate memorial contributions to the Delta U.M. Church, P.O. Box 445, Delta, PA 17314.
