Hope G.  Snodgrass
HOPE G. SNODGRASS passed away at the Skilled Care Center (formerly Barbara J. Egan Center) in Shrewsbury on Thursday, July 23, 2015 at the age of 94. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Donald Heaps Snodgrass, on October 3, 2001.

Born on May 10, 1921 in Lower Chanceford Township, York Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Purdy L. and Ethel Leona (Kilgore) Glenn. Hope graduated from the former Lower Chanceford High School in 1939 and attended Millersville State Teachers College (known now as Millersville University.) On June 16, 1941, she and Donald eloped and were married in Elkton, MD. During WWII, Donald was stationed in Long Beach, CA for three years. She traveled with him and worked for Douglas Aircraft as an assembler, drill press operator and was a real “Rosie the Riveter.”

Hope retired in 1980 from Aberdeen Proving Ground, Harford County, MD where she had been employed as a clerk. A member for over 50 years at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, she had served as a deacon, sang in the choir and enjoyed participating in the Women’s Association. Hope was a past Worthy Matron of Penn-Mary Chapter #72 OES, Cardiff, MD.

She is lovingly remembered by:

Her sisters-
Grace Glenn of Delta, PA and Ellen Smith of Street, MD

Four grandchildren – Chip and Chad Marsteller; Allison Horton and Laura Snodgrass

Five great grandchildren- Derek, Shane, Madison, Jay and Kate

Many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Claire Spencer.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Slate Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1630 Chestnut Street, Cardiff. MD 21160.

Her pastor, Reverend Kenneth Osborne will co-officiate with Reverend James B. Shuler of Pine Grove Presbyterian Church. A luncheon will follow in the church social hall
