Obituary for Kathryn T. Kerr (Tipton)

Kathryn T.  Kerr (Tipton)
Kathryn T. Kerr, 91 years of Whiteford, MD died on Monday, December 24, 2012 at Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, Bel Air, MD. She was the wife of the love of her life Merton D. Kerr who died in 1986.

Mrs. Kerr was born on July 18, 1921 in Jarrettsville, MD a daughter of the late John Martin and Nellie (Hess) Tipton Sr. Mrs. Kerr was a graduate of the former Jarrettsville High School in 1938 and of the former Western Maryland College in 1942. She was a teacher for 34 years retiring in 1976 after teaching at Bel Air High School, the former Slate Ridge School, North Harford High School and Middle Schools. She was a member of Slateville Presbyterian Church where she was a deacon, elder and member of the choir for over 30 years. She loved working on the farm with her late husband and was an avid fisherman, having gone on fishing trips with her late husband to the Florida Keys and Canada.

She is survived by a sister in law, Anna Smith Tipton; a niece, Bonnie L. Tipton and a nephew John Isaac.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a brother, John M. (Jack) Tipton; a sister, Betsy T. Isaac and a niece, Connie T. Martin.

Funeral service will be on Monday, December 31st at 1:00 PM at Slateville Presbyterian Church, 308 Slateville Road, Delta, PA. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00-1:00PM.
Interment will be in Slateville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Kathryn T. Kerr Scholarship Fund, c/o North Harford High School, 211 Pylesville Road, Pylesville, MD 21132
