Message: During my years working with Pete, I came to admire and respect him for many different reasons, both professionally and personally. Pete was my initial mentor and motivator while working together at U.S.F. & G. Through his deportment and leadership he instilled in me the desire to improve as a coworker and a person. He demonstrated, by example, how to endure the difficult times, but also how to enjoy and make the most of the good times. The many experiences and “pictures” I have in my memories are of Pete’s childlike grin and facial expressions, his ability to engage you in his story telling, his love of his family, is dedication to his profession and coworkers, his always friendly demeanor. Thank you for making my family feel like a part of your family. As I have read in other people’s messages, Pete was fond of asking us “Is it one of the big three?”. Thank you Pete for helping me focus and define what the “big three” are in my life.

Message: Pete Gunn - one of the good guys. Pete Gunn was one of the finest people I ever had the privilege of knowing. Although we first met while in the Air Force, we didn't really get to know each other until we both went to work for the same company as corporate pilots. During those first years, Pete was my teacher and mentor - the guy who taught me the ropes. He was patient, never belittling, and he kept things professional but light. Pete had a manner about him that made you want to do well, mostly because you you wanted to be just like him. Pete soon became a close friend who I admired and respected, and I continue to, even now he has left us. He was the ultimate professional pilot; unmatched in competency and professionalism. But it was the non-pilot side of him that set him apart. Pete was a wonderful friend. His loyalty and support could always be depended upon. He had a great sense of humor that could relieve tension in challenging situations. Pete became more of a brother than and a friend. Pete was lovable and we will all miss him.
