Life Story for Gilbert C. Evans
GILBERT CRANMER EVANS, 95 years of Delta, PA, died on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at York Hospital. Born on August 21, 1920 in Delta, PA, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Elsie (Glasgow) Evans. Married on June 28, 2007, he was blessed to meet his wife, Ina R. (Fletcher) Evans later in life loving her children and grandchildren as his own. He was also the former widower of M. Elizabeth (Pomraning) Evans who passed away in 1997.
A lifetime resident of Delta, Mr. Evans worked as a Lineman for Henckels & McCoy and as a Truck Driver for DuPont with a 26-year accident-free career. He worked in excavation on the side which turned into full time work after truck driving. Gilbert was a former member of the Lions Club and enjoyed traveling including trips to the mountains, Florida, New York, and Canada.
He is survived by:
Two children-
Carolyn Evans-Corder and her husband, Ray of Delta, PA
Robert K. Evans and his wife, Janet of Delta, PA
and stepdaughter-
Teresa Yarnell and her husband, Bob of Brogue, PA
Five grandchildren-
Jeffrey Evans
Michael Evans and his wife, Deb
Brandi Veld and her fiancé, Jake Waltimyer
Tyler Veld
Alex Holmes
Five great grandchildren-
Katelyn Evans
Karina Evans
Krystine Evans
Elizabeth Veld
Addilyn Veld
And two great grandsons on the way.
His sister-

And sister-in-law Bertha M. Evans
He is preceded by his brother Fred Evans.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. at Harkins Funeral Home, 600 Main Street, Delta, PA where the funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 1 p.m. Reverend James B. Shuler will officiate.
Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Airville, PA.
In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate memorial contributions to Pine Grove Presbyterian Church, 4263 Delta Rd., Airville, PA 17302 or to Salem United Methodist Church, 5042 Delta Rd., Delta, PA 17314.
