Condolences

Condolence From: Alvy Sprouse
Condolence: I served with Gene Jackman on the Nautilus from 1971-1974. He was my CPO and friend. I have many good memories. I remember especially visiting his home and family. He had a Great Dane dog along with an entire Kennel for keeping a number of dogs. I remember helping him install a slate slab for his new patio one time. I'll never forget his love for Mercedes Benz cars and how he appreciated the engineering expertise and efficiency they had. He had one and his wife had one. He had me convinced to buy one also but they became much more expensive to buy when the Arab Oil Embargo came. He is a fine man and friend I can never forget. It all seems like yesterday. I give all heart felt sympathy and condolences to his family.

Condolence From: John Yuill
Condolence: My sincerest condolences to the Jackson family. I too served in Nautilus, but with his brother, Richard at an earlier time (1957-1960),so I never had a chance to know Gene. Still, he is my 'shipmate' as far as I'm concerned.

Condolence From: DH
Condolence: When death separates us from our loved ones it can be difficult to find comfort. Knowing that God cares so deeply for us when our hearts are broken due to grief can bring us a sense of peace and hope (Psalms 34:18). May He sustain you in his loving care in the days ahead as you cherish your most treasured memories of Eugene.

Condolence From: Bob Keehn, Nautilus Alumni Assoc Secretary
Condolence: Dear Molly Jackman & family,
I received your note of Gene's passing. On behalf of the Nautilus Alumni Association shipmates and their families, I send you sincere condolences on the loss of your beloved Gene. I will send a notice to Gene's shipmates. Gene's departure on Eternal Patrol will also be entered in the log at the Nautilus Alumni website.

I first met Gene at the 2012 New London reunion. I recall him being unbelievably full of energy despite appearing 60ish. At that reunion I was "volunteered" for Nautilus Scholarship duty and Gene was assigned to monitor me while "UI". Gene always said he didn't do much to bring me along, but, I say he lit the fire and that was all that was needed. Thank you Gene!

May our Lord bless and console you during this time of sorrow.
